Meet Me On Saturn - June 25, 2023

Being imaginative! These are made to resemble my late cats, Dr. Zoidberg and Leona. We lost Dr. Z in November 2021 and Leona in June 2023.

I don’t know what to believe when it comes to the afterlife (i’m mostly agnostic/atheist because I don’t subscribe to existing religions), but if I had a choice, I suppose it would be floating around Saturn for a bit. So that’s what I like to imagine; they either reincarnated or their out playing in space.

Leona - June 25, 2023

On June the 6th, I had planned to drive back to Iowa after the previous nights late plane ride and parting with my friend. I stayed the night with my parents but Sean texted me that he needed to Uber Leona to the vet.

What we thought (or hoped) was going to be another fight with infections she was prone to after she had become diabetic, we did not expect the vet to find fluid in her abdomen and a very enlarged bladder. There really wasn’t much we could have done for her, sadly, and it was so much worse because I happened to be 5.8 hours away. I was almost outside of Kansas City when Sean gave me the vet’s diagnosis.

She was in a bad enough condition that it would have been horrible to have her wait, so we lost her when I was still away and I couldn’t be there for either her or Sean. Heh, she always did get her worst illnesses on the oddest of times; with her first bad one taking place on Thanksgiving of 2014 roughly right after all of the vets had closed. She had a thing with getting sick on holidays or when we were planning trips.

Thanks to family and friends who were supportive during that time frame. :)
